    Hi,

I get the following message when I try to delete a Splogger:
“There was a problem connecting to the WangGuard server. Please check your server configuration.”

    Also this:
“The key you entered could not be verified because a connection to wangguard.com could not be established. Please check your server configuration.”

    And this:
“The key below was previously validated but a connection to wangguard.com can not be established at this time. Please check your server configuration.”

Does anyone have suggestions for what might be causing this?

    Thanks

  • @ Jose Conti,

Hello, and Thank you for personally telling us what is happening.
I have 2 websites with WangGuard, reinstalled both keys and everything looks and acts normally.

    With much Appreciation~

    @ Jose Conti,
I echo Kris’ appreciation. Having the WangGuard service down for a few hours really showed me how much worse life would be without you on the job. Keep up the good work!

Well, I have four sites back under WangGuard’s protection–and one other thing I did was to establish separate API keys for each, instead of using one key across sites.

In one case I had to run the Wizard, since I had so many not-checked registrations.

One thing I notice, though: a lot of sploggers slip through before the get reported somewhere else. I always check, recheck, and double check a new registrant (except one I know personally) over several days.

    Thank you @krisargent and @webservant7

@temlakos yes is better to have different API Keys for every website. If there is a problem with a site, is more easy to debug.

And yes, that’s true. That’s the reason of WangGuard Cron. It is a good idea to set the cron to check the registrations in the last week.

    Kind regards

    Hi to all,

    The IP info works again.

    Thank you for your patience.

    Hi,

I didn’t understand what the solution is.
I still have the same reported problem on old websites.
I also JUST installed WG and here we go – no server connection, even with the API key on.
    Please advice.
    Thank you.

    Please, ignore my previous comment!
    The mistake was mine.
Here is the solution from WangGuard:
Go to WangGuard Settings and Disable secure connection to WangGuard server using SSL / TLS. After that Save Options, and save the API Key again.

    Thank you!

sorry to chime in here but we are using ssl everywhere on our site but still needed to disable this option should i start another thread?

    Hi Ben,

You are using SSL in your website, or you are connecting to other websites with secure connection? it is not the same.

You only can connect to our API using TLS 1.0, TLS 1.1 or TLS 1.2, SSL 2 and SSL 3 are disabled because the security bugs.

    Hey Jose,

yeah i guess i don’t know as far as i know we just have SSL i guess i figured the two things go hand in hand.

    ??

Getting same error as OP and have for weeks.

yeah you just got to turn that option off and it should return to normal ??
