    Hi,

I updated all the websites I run with BLC 2.0 and then tried to connect one of them to the new dashboard. Been at it for 30 minutes now and then got really fed up, each time the same error: “this does not seem to be a WordPress website”. I did whitelist the IP in Wordfence, tried to disable .htaccess, etc. Still “not a WordPress website”…

Well I liked the old version which I’ll keep using. And when I won’t be able to use it anymore because the connection to WPMUDEV Dashboard will be mandatory, that will be my cue to leave since BLC is not able to see that all my websites are WordPress websites.

Luckily the old version still works. Might I suggest that before releasing an update, please make sure it actually works.

    Hello @stefanp44 ,

I’m sorry for those issues with our plugin.

It seems like you are using an automatic connection method for connecting your site to the Hub. Can you try connecting the site manually with WPMU DEV Dashboard as shown here https://wpmudev.com/docs/getting-started/installing-the-wpmu-dev-dashboard-plugin/#download-instructions

    kind regards,
    Kasia

    Hi,

I’ll try to do that, I didn’t until now because something bothers me : a plugin is needed to connect a plugin. IMHO, something is not right there.

    Hi @stefanp44

The “plugin is needed to connect a plugin” – this may sound “not right”, I understand. However, this is necessary because WPMU DEV Dashboard is providing all the API connections. While it may not have been “visible” here, over years we’ve built an “ecosystem” around The Hub and heavily based on API. Using a dedicated plugin we can provide better experience thanks to “unified” solution that can handle both free and premium, current and future features and focus on evolving/improving features of our plugins and services rather than on maintaining separate APIs and API implementations in different products.

It’s no different to e.g. various “framework” type plugins that some themes require or some updater plugins from certain marketplaces.

I understand that this may not “look right” but in a longterm it realy is a solution that has proven itself to work well and make things better in terms of development, features and support in general.

Getting back to the issue, please try such manual connection and let us know in case you’d encounter any issues (though I believe it will be fine).

    Kind regards,
    Adam

    Hi Adam,

Thanks for the clarification. I did connect my main site to the new BLC dashboard using the plugin, no problem. I launched a scan to test the new tool: found 49 broken links, all false positive. I reported them as “not broken” but they don’t disappear from the as you report them (that would be a nice UX improvement).

    Hi @stefanp44

Thanks for the additional feedback. I will report your suggestions to our team so they can take this recommendations into account.

The 2.0 version is still in beta and we will work on improving BLC based on feedback received by our users whom we greatly value.

    Kind regards

    Luis
