• I set up Word Press on my site and tried to edit the theme. It told me that it couldn’t connect to the database, so I tried to do it manually. When I did that, I got the following error:
“‘cpe-065-188-169-092.triad.res.rr.com’ is not allowed to connect to this MySQL server”

How do I fix this problem?

  • What do you mean manually?
Normally, template files should be edited on your computer in a plain text editor and uploaded via FTP.
    Which part doesn’t work?

It may be that the MySQL server restricts access. For example, if you’re on a GoDaddy account, their MySQL server will block inbound requests to the MySQL server from anything other than the one hosting account associated with the database.

Sounds like you might have something similar on your hands. If so, it’s something you need to work out with your host.

By manually I meant by opening up CocoaMySQL (a SQL program I use) and trying to access the db from there. As far as the templates go, there’s a spot in the admin utility for selecting from a set of templates WordPress provides.

However, magically, I tried again today and it worked. Hooray!
