This may be related to your site using a page caching plugin. Please flush your home page cache and then try again.”</span>

@jamesosborne Yes, Can you please help with the steps to install a fresh WordPress site on the same hosting platform? I’m not sure how to do it

    Hey @annalbirena,

While we can’t login to users hosting control panel, I did check to see who is hosting your site, and I found a Subete A LA Nube reference. Can you share your current web host and I can see what I can discover? In many cases, it’s possible to install WordPress sites in a few clicks from a hosting control panel, installing a site within a subdirectory or subdomain of your current site.

It may also be possible that your hosting provider can set up a site for you. But do let me know of your current hosting provider and I’ll check.

    Sure, Bluehost and OnCloud

Thanks for the update @annalbirena. In that case, it looks like Bluehost do have a WordPress installer for their plans. You will therefore will be able to install WordPress in a subdirectory of your main site, by following the steps in this guide.

Note also that another troubleshooting check you can perform, is to bypass OnCloud if this is a CDN, and server your site from Bluehost only.

Nice work @annalbirena. Can you check and confirm that you are able to complete Site Kit set up from this new site? If you are, can you share the site URL of this site so we know if this is a subdomain site or a subdirectory based site using the same resources.

Feel free to share using this form if you wish.

@jamesosborne I successfully set up Site kit on this new site, I shared with you the url in the form

Nice work setting up the additional WordPress site. As the environment used looks to be similar, this helps rule out a hosting related issue. We also discussed this case yesterday and you shouldn’t need to go through verification of your site if Search Console has verified ownership already. Based on this, I suspect what may be happening, is one of your Google accounts which you may be using to set up Site Kit, is not a verified owner.

To troubleshoot this further, can you perform the steps below, while recording the steps so we can check the Google account used:

    1. Open up a Chrome browser incognito window.
    2. Access the following link once more, and when directed, use the same Google account used to set up Site Kit (Note that you’ll need to replace the example.com reference with your own site URL)
      https://search.google.com/u/1/search-console/performance/search-analytics?start_date=20240405&end_date=20240502&resource_id=https://www.example.com
    3. Click on the grey verify button.
    4. Assuming ownership is verified, please then go ahead and set up Site Kit once more.

Once more you can use a service such as Loom or RecordIt to share a screen recording, while using the same form previously used to share this privately.?

As long as we can review the recording above, we can ensure the same Google account is used. Let me know if you have any questions with the above.

@jamesosborne I filled the form with the video and still get the same error. I also added more information about the Google accounts of the owner.

Appreciate the additional insights @annalbirena. From reviewing the details I can see that the same email is a verified owner of property. Unfortunately I will need to check this further with the team, as to why Site Kit is either not placing the meta tag, or why the plugins lookup in Search Console for an existing verification is not working as expected.

Note also that I did perform some additional checks of your site, and I can see that your non secure (http version) is not redirecting to your secure version (https). While I don’t suspect this may be impacting Site Kit set up, it may be worthwhile ensuring you do have redirection in place.

While you’re awaiting my check with the team regarding site verification failing, you may wish to verify your site manually using the meta tag insertion method, by adding the meta tag to your themes header.php file. You’ll find the instructions here. I can’t be sure, but this may allow you to proceed as there will be an existing meta tag on your site, similar to the meta tag that Site Kit places. If you need any assistance performing this, let me know. Thank you!

    (@annalbirena)

@jamesosborne I have verified that the meta tag already exists on the site

Thanks for the update @annalbirena. Are you now able to complete Site Kit set up? When attempting to do so, please use a Chrome browser incognito window.

@jamesosborne I still have the same error:

“An error occurred: “The necessary verification token could not be found on your site. This may be related to your site using a page caching plugin. Please flush your home page cache and then try again.”

Appreciate the update @annalbirena. I’ll check this with the team and report back to you here once I have an update. Until then, unfortunately I don’t have any known workaround. I’ll have an update on this during the week.

Just to keep you updated on this, we are still investigating the potential cause of this. Unfortunately I don’t have any timeframe on when I will have an update.

What you may wish to do in the meantime, is to perform the same steps as per this guide once more. I say this as there is still a possible a third party plugin or theme related feature is impacting Site Kit set up, and you do already have a HTML tag verification now in place.

Let me know if you do happen to perform this check once more. I’ll also update you as soon as I have an update.
