The onboarding process is terrible, there is absolutely no documentation or instructions on how to set up a connection whatsoever. I complete the store information, click save and get moved onto Import you contacts. Nothing else happens. Since there is a complete lack of instructions I don’t even know if what I’m doing it correct.

So despite my best efforts I cannot get this to connect even after reading through the support threads which mention a ‘connect button’, this however has failed to materialise at any step.

Finally for some reason there are now two separate links to a same tab nested under Woocommerce settings. Clearly you didn’t read the WordPress Developer Handbook guidelines.

Add to that deactivating and deleting the plugin does not remove database entries it created so I can’t attempt to start again without manually removing fields from the database.

    Hi @antonyjosephsmith

Sorry to hear that you’re going through some frustrating times with our plugin here. Hopefully we can help resolve these issues with you.

We do have a good amount of documentation already, but I admit from the www.remarpro.com repo, it’s not obvious or apparent where that is. At the bottom of my reply here is a curated list of documentation links that will hopefully provide clarification on the various steps and features available, including how to start using them.

Some parts won’t apply to your specific case, as you’ve already installed the plugin and made a connection to tie your WooCommerce store to your Constant Contact account.

I do admit that the disconnect/”reset” flow is a bit buggy and the requirement at the moment to manually edit the database is very much less than ideal. We have some internal tasks noted down to work on this part.

That said, feel free to ask more questions or seek out extra clarification on any questions or topics lingering for you, we’ll do the best we can to address them.

I don’t think you read my support issue fully. I’ve been unable to connect to constant contact.

So despite my best efforts I cannot get this to connect even after reading through the support threads which mention a ‘connect button’, this however has failed to materialise at any step.

Why don’t you link to all this documentation from the plugin page?

    Plugin Author Constant Contact

    (@constantcontact)

Well, let’s see what we can do to troubleshoot that.

I cleared out my local test install with this plugin installed and active on it. I also cleared out all the database-based options to give myself a “fresh start”.

On the very first time that I visited the Constant Contact tab in the WooCommerce area, the “Connect with Constant Contact” button is indeed not shown yet. I do see and acknowledge that you have said you did this next part. Once I filled in all the store information fields and hit save, it *should* show up, and did for me at this moment.

    https://cloudup.com/csQSPk_X4Am

I am curious if some of the information originally provided was not getting seen as valid for the settings, as we do have some checks for that in place.

By all means X out the actual valid parts, but can you provide the format that you entered the phone number and email? For example, “[email protected]” vs “[email protected]” or something similar. Same for the phone number, 0001112222 vs 000-111-2222 or 000.111.2222 etc. Also possible that you’re not in the US as well, for which we could enter in some dummy values and see if that format is validating like intended.

On the documentation part, I have put in an internal ticket about getting the links in the repository here to help everyone.

    Thread Starter antonyjosephsmith

    (@antonyjosephsmith)

So I’ve tested again on a clean install of WP 5.4 on a different domain and completely different server and our alternative VPS provider. The behaviour is the same, the connect button does not appear.

I’m not in the US. No warnings appear at the form validation step. It just says settings saved.

Changing the store country code has no effect.

    Plugin Author Constant Contact

    (@constantcontact)

If I’m reading the code accurately, it’s not validating during the saving process, but it is checking if it’s “considered valid” for determining if it should show the UI.

I’m also seeing that it takes a “+” into account, but if you have been providing a version like this, “(+00) 00000000000”, it would not end up being considered valid because of the presence of the (). This is not a fault on your part, it’s something we need to address on our end to be more permissive.

If you can confirm you were including characters like that, and even try it out with just the numbers, that’d help verify that we are having an issue we’d need to handle.

Thanks for getting back to us as well, we appreciate the ability to troubleshoot.

    Thread Starter antonyjosephsmith

    (@antonyjosephsmith)

Right so after some experimentation with the number field I’ve finally managed to get it to connect, I must say your input sanitisation and field validation is effectively pointless if it accepts any number as valid even when it’s not.

Plus I now have a new problem. We add tax in our store and the integration does not respect this so the prices displayed are basically wrong and do not match the store. There is no way to manage this via the integration it’s either price/no price.

    Plugin Author Constant Contact

    (@constantcontact)

Out of curiosity, with regards to the latter part, are you having the taxes calculated and added upfront, where the price seen before adding to a cart, is the final price paid? Trying to mentally work out how that part is occurring in this case, and how the prices could end up being listed differently.
