can’t comment

  • Whups, what have I done wrong? I go to comment on my own blog and get “Error: please fill the required fields (name, email).” (I had, of course.)
    My last change was to <i>wp-login.php</i>, to patch an alleged security hole (and perhaps cure the redirect-cancer); can’t see how that would affect comments! I think I have comments more recent than my last change before that.

    Check Options/Discussions. Have you checked the box which requires a name and email to post a comment?

    Yes. I also filled in the “name” and “mail” boxes when I tried to post that comment.

    Try deleting wp-comments-post.php and wp-comments.php or wp-comments-popup.php, if you use popup comments. Then, upload new files from a fresh WP download.
