• I am having a very interesting issue. For some reason, there is like an invisible thing covering the top half of my site in IE6 and it is disabling the ability to click on anything.

The hovers don’t work on my nav, and you can’t click on any items, you can’t click in the search or newsletter fields on the sidebars, you can’t click on any text links and you can’t select any text.

If you scroll down the page a ways and start hovering over things, you find a spot where this stops and you can then do all of the things mentioned above.

To see what I am talking about please check out https://www.courtlandcenter.com/about/. Please don’t mind the layout issues, I am going to be taking care of that, I am just more concerned with the ability to navigate the site right now.

It only does it in IE6. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for the help in advance.

  • Could have something to do with png images, or CSS hover, or many other IE6 problems: dealing with ie6 – Google Search Might need an IE6 style sheet when you have fixes: quirm.net: WordPress and Conditional Comment CSS You might have to decide if you want to bother with IE6, as the browser has around a 5% market share now.

After a little research, I think it has something to do with WP 3. Is there any way to safely go back to 2.9.2?

I doubt it has anything to do with WP3 – what makes you think it does? It’s far more likely it’s a theme issue. As songdogtech pointed out there are well-known IE problems with CSS

I thought so too at first, but then I checked the original theme in IE6 and it worked fine.

So then I thought that maybe it had something to do with my customization. So I put all of the original files back on the server and tested it and it still didn’t work.

So I went back to the theme home page and checked what version of WP they are using and they are using 2.9.2.

So the only things that differ between the two are our servers and our versions of WP.

Do you guys know of anything that could be causing something like this that would have to do with the server?

    Thanks for the help.

Really, it has nothing to do with core WP and everything to do with your theme and your customizations of the theme. What about the HITS-IE6 PNGFix plugin you’re using? Have that in both installs? And are you using a native install of IE6 or some sort of browsershot or VM or emulation?

Thank you songdogtech, that was it on the head. I am using PNG Fix and all I had to do was change the method to “Twin Helix v2.0” I was using v1.

Problem solved. Thank you very much.
