• I will have very few pages on my website and I want URLs like:
    https://mysite.org/about
    https://mysite.org/directors

I’ve found some similar posts in the forums, but they don’t quite help.

When editing a page, I don’t see the URL or Permalink beneath the title. There’s a blank space.

If I click Quick Edit for a page, I see its Slug and can change the Slug.

How do I tell WordPress to use the Slug for the URL instead of the default Permalink?

    I forgot to include, I’m using 2.7.

Yes, I saw that, but I don’t want two levels, just one, and I don’t think I can have %category% blank.

    Can’t I have just a simple URL like https://mysite.org/about ?

Lots of different answers and plugins mentioned here.

WordPress says it’s not a good idea.

Thank you! Your link sent me to what I wanted to know. I overlooked %postname%

So I changed my permalinks Custom Structure to %postname% and that almost works. WordPress kept changing my “about” to “about-2” so I think “about” must mean something else. So I used “about-mysite” instead and now they all work fine.

Thank you again for your help.

Good that worked. In my experience, “about-2” means that there’s another “about” post or page lingering about in the database. Might be worth a try to delete all your “about” posts/pages and then create a new one, and the permalink and name should simply be “about.”

    Hi,

I have changed my post name ex: mydomain.com/wordpress to mydomain.com/wordpress-is-best-software , but my new permalink not getting updated and still I am getting mydomain.com/wordpress, and i want to get all my changed posts permalinks to new as ex : mydomain.com/wordpress-is-best-software
