• Hello,

When i try to upload a new plugin or theme, or try to update a plugin or theme, it shows an error and says cant make file.. i think i need to change the permissions of my upgrade.php, but i cant.

  • Who are you hosting with?

What typically happens is that the permissions for the files and directories where your WP is located are incorrect. If it’s a local install, try changing them to 777 and then upgrade. If it works, you know that was the issue (but don’t forget to change the permissions back).

im hosting at a dutch host called Astrahost..

Somehow i can change the permissions now, changed the permissions of the folder ‘upgrade’ to 777, and try’d to upload a new plugin. but it still says it cant upload/update/upgrade..

Try changing the permissions on the wp-content directory to 766. If you still have problems, try 767, 775 or 777. Once your uploads are working, change the permissions on wp-content back to 755 again and check that everything still works OK.

nope, nothing works.. it keeps saying ‘cant make the file’ (dont know how its called in english sorry..)

Try asking your hosts to check if there’s a folder ownership issue on your site. Give them a copy of the error message so that they know where to look.
