can’t change my wordpress theme

  • Hello everyone,

    I am unable to change my wordpress theme. When I go to select a new theme the page shows all the themes I have uploaded, however when I click on a new theme to view the originally activated theme is what is displayed, not the new theme I selected. I’ve tried clearing my browser cache and refreshing my web site. I even deleted the theme that is being displayed, but no matter what I do the theme will not change to a new selection. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

    I was viewing it in Firefox, I tried viewing it in Explorer, and get the same results.

    Have you tried deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    No good, no plugins were activated.

    Hmm…

    Have you tried clearing the cache and cookies in your browser(s)?

    Can you try using another machine to rule out anything that is specific to your set up?

    Do you have any AV or firewall software running that you could temporarily disable – again to try rule things out.

    Yes I’ve cleared my browsers cache and cookies. I don’t think it’s my PC for I have other blogs on other domains and they are working okay.

    I really don’t have anything on this blog, and would be okay with uninstalling wordpress, but I don’t know how and when I do a reinstall I would like to use ver 2.7.1, as I hear there is a lot of compatibility issues with plugins etc, due to it being so new. I’d rather wait a bit before installing ver 2.8.

    Can you activate the theme using the activate theme under the thumbnail, rather than going through the preview?

    Yes, but I get the same result, it says the theme I selected is activated and show’s it’s design in the thumbnail, but not when I refesh the web page, still original theme I started with.
