I’ve installed this plugin with the single page Astra theme and set the meta title and description. However I now want to change the meta title which I tried to do for the home page in the SEO menu option screen and also in the page quick edit screen.

In the SEO screen, when I click in the meta title box the existing text blurs, much like placeholder text, and if I try to replace it by pasting then it instead adds the new text. There’s a hyphen in the existing text and if I type new text, rather than pasting, then it replaces the text before the hyphen but I can’t edit the text after the hyphen.

In the quick edit screen the text before the hyphen in the meta title was different, it was ‘Homepage’ which I was able to replace, but I am not able to edit the text after the hyphen.

    Hello!

The homepage title has three title/description input fields (quick/page/SEO-settings)… handy, but undoubtedly confusing. We did this because you can change the homepage from a blog page and a static page (and vice versa) at any time.

The homepage title/description output takes the following precedence:
    1. Global SEO Settings.
    2. Page SEO Settings.
    3. WordPress’s General Settings (Site Title/Tagline).

If you notice that the pixel/character counters don’t move, TSF has “locked” the input to prevent giving you incorrect SEO advice. Then, you can only change the field via the SEO Settings page, under “Homepage Settings”.

You cannot remove the “floating site title” part for the homepage via the “Remove the site title?” option you find when editing the page. However, you can change the text after the separator via the Homepage Settings at the SEO Settings page under the “Additions” tab.

I hope this clears things up! Do play around with it a little to get the hang of it. This three-part system can be a bit confusing, but as long as WordPress doesn’t deliver a page-editing experience for the blog page, I’m afraid it’s here to stay.

    Hi @cybr

Thank you for your detailed explanation! I’ve followed your notes and have been able to edit it.

    Thanks you!
