    Hi,
I need help figuring out how to change my site header. I’ve tried going to the Theme Customization menu and clicked on “Header”. I only see two options there: the checkboxes to display my site’s description and to display the header image. I have header image checked, but I never get an option to change it. Previously I was able to upload a banner header image, but it was in a different menu.

I realized the Header.php file had been changed since I created my Child Theme. Also, there was now two new header files in the Parts folder (header-main and header-nav-topbar). I updated my Header.php file and added the two Parts files. All this did was remove my existing header image from my site and I still had no option in the Customization menu to add a header image. After changing my Header.php file back to how it was, my original header image showed back up.

Is there another file I need to add/edit before I’ll get this option? I’d really like to change my header, hopefully someone can offer some suggestions. Thanks!

  • Hello AZBros,

To change the header logo, please go to:
Customize ? Global settings ? Site Identity ? Logo, Title, Tagline and Site Icon

Check the checkbox next to “Display a logo in your header” and then you should be able to add your custom header logo.

    I hope this helps you.
    Take care!

    Hi,
I’m asking how to display a custom header banner image. My site (AZBros.com) already displays one, but that was before all the recent changes. The option to change it used to be in the Customizer, but after the recent updates, it’s just not there. I’m guessing it has something to do with my Child Theme, but I’m not positive what needs to be changed.

I’m sorry, I must have misunderstood that.

If you want to keep track of changes after an update, you can check out the hueman release notes.

    Hi,

The option to change header image is found in Appearance -> Customize -> Header -> Header Design : banner image, …
Find the setting -> Use a header banner image
Check the checkbox and it will show you the settings for applying a header image.

Please see my screen-cast for more details.

    Hi Denzel Chia,
Thanks for the reply, but that option just isn’t showing up for me. I have all the appropriate checkboxes marked and have gone to that menu area, but the option to upload/change the banner image is not present.

I have the most current version of the Hueman theme, but I am using a child theme. Do you know if this could cause any issues? As I mentioned before, my current Header.php file is different from the current Parent theme’s file. I did try changing it last night including adding Parts/header-main.php and Parts/header-nav-topbar.php. Once I did this, my current banner image disappeared and the option to add/change images was still not visible.

I was curious if there was some other file that needed to be added/updated within my child theme to allow this Customization option to appear.

    Hi,

It’s probably your custom code in your child theme functions.php
Compare them with the functions in parent theme.
See if there is any difference and update accordingly.

    Thank you.

    Denzel Chia,

Thanks! That did the trick. I knew it would be something simple. There was one new lined added to the new functions.php. Once I included it in my child theme’s functions.php file, everything worked.

    You are welcome.
    Thank you.

Hi! i am a total beginner, trying to change header image of 2017 theme, the reply is “Unable to create directory wp-content/uploads/2017/05. Is its parent directory writable by the server?”
    can you help?

denzel: I also am having trouble changing my header in within the suffusion theme. Your advice ” It’s probably your custom code in your child theme functions.php
Compare them with the functions in parent theme.See if there is any difference and update accordingly” is interesting to me, but I don’t know where to look. Please advise

@tommcdonald: if you’ve child theme activated, then check the folder of your child theme from any ftp client like “filezilla”, check the functions.php file and match the changes you’ve made with the parent theme’s functions.php file.

After the recent update, there has been a couple of changes in functions.php file, so u must need to make the changes in ur child theme accordingly.

Thanks Kumaresh. I realized that for me to change my header I must go into appearance>themes> theme details>page down then click header. This is where I am/was able to change my header logo. I hope this helps others

I am also having problems changing my header in 2017 because the option does not show up in the Customizer. The only thing that shows up is the Widget and it’s not clickable.
The Customizer keeps saying loading but it never does. I don’t have the theme options, header, etc. Can someone please help?
I have used this theme before and this never happened. I am not using a child theme as of yet.

    Thank you,
    Potpourrita

I’m trying to change my header logo, but when I go to Appearance -> Customize -> all I get is a blank window with a sidebar displaying “You are Customizing LEWISVILLE”. The window tab displays Customise:Loading, but thats all it does!!!!
