can’t automatically upgrade from 2.8 to 2.8.1

    I guess I could try a manual upgrade but first I thought I’d ask if anyone else has any suggestions. When I click the “upgrade automatically” button nothing happens at all. When I try to manually go to the upgrade URL (update-core.php?action=do-core-upgrade) I get a message that says “Are you sure you want to do this?” but no way to say yes. I tried overwriting the wp-admin & wp-includes w/ fresh copies of 2.8 (did not delete them first). That didn’t help. So, I guess the next step is to delete them and try the manual upgrade…

    On this site the “Search Plugins” button also doesn’t work and neither does Lightbox2. Deactivating all plugins does not solve the upgrade problem.

    Poking around the site, I have also noticed that the “View Page” and “View Post” buttons do not work when editing a page or post.

    The “Search Posts” and “Search Pages” buttons also do not work when editing posts or pages.

    The “Search” button does not work on the “Install Themes” page.

    The “Search Comments” button does not work on the “Edit Comments” page.

    I could probably find more submit buttons that don’t work. GoDaddy does not want to support the issue. They just keep saying to move the site to a sub-folder and see if it solves the problem. Yeah sure. If I’m moving the site and losing all of the client’s Google indexing and having to set the whole thing up again, then I’m moving it to a different host.

    I do not recommend GoDaddy for hosting. Never have and never will.

    The answer for me turned out to be upgrading the template.

    Lightbox2 still doesn’t work but I have tried some of the Submit buttons that were not working before and they work now.

    I had same problem
    I changed all file permission in : /public_html/wp-admin/includes to 744 and the problem fixed !

    There is no 744 permision on a folder (7 – 5 – x and that’s it)
    If you change to 744 you get only errors.
