• I have a message at the top of my admin page telling me to upgrade to 3.0.1, but when I try to run the auto-upgrade, I get the following error:

Warning: copy(/gmti/www/usaweek/wp/wp-content/upgrade/wordpress-mu-3.0.1/wordpress/wp-admin/includes/update-core.php) [function.copy]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /gmti/www/usaweek/wp/wp-admin/includes/class-wp-filesystem-direct.php on line 131

We have a huge blog sitting on WP, and I’m afraid to do much manually because I don’t want to blow up anything. Has anyone seen this? Know what I’m missing, so I can get this to work?

Checked the config file, the site meta table, the capabilities tables. What else do I check?

Just as a hint, if no one’s replied, it’s generally because we can’t sort it out either. It’s a fairly obscure issue.

I would make a new (TEST) 3.0.2 multisite and create a couple subsites, to be able to compare the various tables 1:1 at this point.

and if you’re still on 2.9.2? honestly, I’d think I’d make sure i had backups and keep going… then if it hadn’t magically sort itself out, fix it from there.

YMMV. Depends on how brave you are.

If I have the current install with all my blog posts and I create a new install from scratch, can I pull all the content from the existing database into the new one? I’m thinking the answer is yes, but I’d rather ask. I have no desire to be hunted down by the editors with pitchforks and flaming torches.

You guys have been SO great! I can’t tell you how much I appreciate your help.

    -R.

Yeah, you can. On a scale of 1 to 10 how scary does it seem? ??

Just as long as you don’t overwrite your own admin details, you’ll be good.

Oh tell me about it…. been there. ;P
