Can't attach or add media

  • Hi everyone,

    Every since we updated to the latest version of WordPress, we have not been able to attach media that is in the library or add media onto a page. I read the documentation pages about adding media and I understand that that’s the only two ways to do it and that I’m doing it correctly. Whenever we click either button, it doesn’t do anything or it just moves the screen a bit. I’ve installed all updates and recommended plug-ins. We’ve tried on different computers, different browsers and different network many times. I’ve been looking in the forums and I haven’t been able to find anything about this since the newest version of WordPress was released. Help?

  • Have you tried deactivating all plugins and switching to the default theme to start troubleshooting this? If that works, reverse your steps one by one to see what’s causing it.

    If not, please post a link to your site with ALL plugins off and twentythirteen active.

    I have not, but I will try that and post the results.

    I too am experiencing this issue.

    I have been unable to add media to posts, with the media page loading but none of the options available except insert media via URL.

    I have gone back to a default theme, but this has no effect.

    Can anyone offer some advice?

    It’s too confusing to have more than one person per thread and it’s unlikely your site/server are the same.

    I deactivated all plug-ins, but couldn’t figure out how to set it to the default theme. After that I still couldn’t attach media. Then a new version and some theme updates appeared so I installed them. I switched the theme to twentythirteen and was about to post the link to my site with all plug-ins deactivated when I checked one more time. I was able to attach media, but one of my sidebars appeared on all of the pages instead of the correct one on each page, and another one appeared incorrectly at the bottom of my hope page.

    I switched back to the Small Biz theme, but I could no longer attach media. I uninstalled all of the plug-ins again, but it didn’t change anything. It appears that I’m having an issue with the theme that is not allowing me to attach media, and I don’t know if others are having the same.

    What next?
