• Hello,

We had install types(2.3.4) plugin but when we tried to activate it, the website goes blank.

Actually, we are facing mainly two issues as mentioned below and we strongly believe that these issues occurring due to “types” plugin is deactivated.

    1. On post edit page, we selected category from checklist and clicked update. But for some reason, after update, it is always showing “Uncategorized” as selected instead the actual category which we assigned. Note that this is the case only for NON-ADMINISTRATOR users. For ADMINISTRATORS, it is working fine.

    2. We have created custom field through coding hook and we are displaying it on page edit form. Now, the issue is, when we are on edit page, and enter something in these custom field and click on PREVIEW button, the newly entered text/value is not showing up on Preview page.

We believe that both of these issues can be solved once “types” plugin will be activated. However, somehow we are not able to activate “types” plugin as explained above.

Note that we tried “types(2.3.3)” as well, but no success.

Could you please help to resolve this issues?

    Thank you!

Did you install the Types plugin for the first time, just recently?
In this case, I recommend removing it again because it will be deprecated by end of this year

If you already built a lot of content and are a long-term user of the Free Types plugin, the same as above is valid, however in that case I recommend looking for an alternative solution of the plugin first, then deploying a staging site where you migrate the contents of free Types to the other solution.

In any case, the free Types as you find it here will be gone in about 2 months from now.

Regarding the problem you experience itself, I was not able to replicate #1.
WordPress Categories if added correctly by users who have the rights to do so, are persisting even if the free Types plugin is active.
Is this problem solved if you disable Types only?
Then probably this is not a native post or taxonomy (category) but something else.
If I have the precise steps I can try again to replicate it.

Of course, if Types created those contents but are disabled then it won’t save them, as they won’t “exist” anymore.

I am not sure what you mean with “We have created custom field through coding hook”, however, Custom Fields work great in previews on my tests

So the whole issue must be due to the disabled Types plugin, which you mention to produce a WPOD (White Page of Death) when active.

That is likely a PHP fatal error.
    Please do this:
    – download a fresh copy from here
    – install and test again
    – if still a WPOD is happening, enable WP Debug and check the error produced.
Make sure, to test with NO plugin but Types and a Default WordPress Theme.

Then, report me that error, so I can see if this can be fixed before we deprecate the plugin.
