• Hello,
Ever since upgrading to WordPress 2.7, I am having an issue where I cannot select the “size” of the image I want to insert when uploading through the browser.

    Screen shot here:
    https://amitai.net/blog/wp-content/uploads/picture-1.png

I manage two wordpress 2.7 sites. One of them is not having this issue — I uploaded the same picture and was able to resize to “medium”. In the screen shot above, as you can see, I cannot select any of the resize buttons, and the full image is shown as “0x0”. I can insert the full image just fine.

Image uploading and resizing was not a problem when the site was on 2.6.x.

I imagine this is some sort of directory permissions issue… help please!

  • It appears that both GD needs to be activated AND/OR if you run Podpress your capability to resize images is broken.

Also, the fixes (in particular the php-gd) do not appear to be retroactive. So only new pictures added will have the option. Pictures previously loaded do not appear to have the size options even after the fixes.

    Hope this helps.

Zelgadis, resizing in the post is not actual resizing. You just show a big image smaller and in many cases, it is distorted, especially if you have slanted edges in the picture.
The ideal is using an image editor upfront because the quality of resizing is much better then the php application. That said, if the function is there, it should work indeed most clients refuse to work with image editors.
What I found out is that it depends how big the image is that you upload. If it is as small or smaller then the height or width set in the Media Setting for thumbnails, you can only insert the full image. If it is slightly bigger, you will have also option Thumbnail. If it is bigger then the largest setting, you will have all options.

It is never possible to enlarge an image. You can only go smaller or keep the same dimensions.
Hope this helps for some of you?

Running into the same issues with uploading images and sizes on the wp media library. The sizes do match what I put in the media settings. Then when I go to a post to insert a image all the sizes are screwed and under sizes it only shows 3 of 4 available sizes. Thumbnail Medium and Full Size no large?

    I am running:
    WordPress 2.8.5.
    Server: Apache/1.3.37 (Unix)
    PHP: v5.2.3
    GD: bundled (2.0.34 compatible)

I went through high and low and still having issues.
I deactivated all plugins. Reactivated 1 by 1. – No luck
    I am not running podpress

Please help this is extremely frustrating…

same trouble here with no podpress
