I recently migrated a local install over to bluehost using Duplicator and had a heck of a time getting everything set up but got it all working, except for one problem. I can’t change my site url to have the WWW in front – it’s greyed out.

I’ve tried editing the wpconfig file and when I add the www+url my site loses all styling and half of the images are broken. Links will also point to my local host (127.x.x.x/). I’m using Bluehost and permissions on all my folders/files are set to read/write.

I need to change the the url to the WWW version because my analytics software is having problems. Please help!!!

  • Hi @menappi,

Sounds like you might have a possible DNS resolution issue. I would double check with your host to see if they can help you pin-point the issue…

Thanks for the suggestion, not entirely sure what to ask them though? If I type in https://www.mydomain.com it works fine.

Hey Cory, I think I might be on the right track but I am unsure so let me tell you what I did:

I went into myPHPadmin (in cPanel) and went into my wordpress database and then went to “wp_options” and under the ‘siteurl’ option it says “https://127.0.0.1:8080/wordpress/”… I’m guessing this should probably have my domain (or temporary domain if I had just moved the site) but it does’t…so do I edit this and change my website into here or what? Or am I totally off?

That is correct, if the domain is public then that option tells wordpress that it is trying to get served from a local path, you will need to change it to the correct URL.

I think the reason that you may have had issues is because when you installed it you probably had https://127.0.0.1 set as your old URL but some of them where saved as https://127.0.0.1:8080 in the DB. That is why some may have been updated anthers were not…
