Can’t add tags and featured image not working properly

  • Hello everyone,

    My WP installation was working just fine yesterday, but today when I started writing a post, the process of adding a featured image completely changed on its own. Adding a featured image went from a simple process to something complicated.

    I went from seeing this screen:

    Also, I cannot add tags to my posts. Whenever I enter and press ‘Add’, it reloads the page and nothing appears.

    I tried deactivating all of my plugins, but it kept having the same problems.

    Can anyone please help?

  • Do you see any JavaScript errors in the browser debugging console?

    What happens if you switch to the default 2016 theme?

    You could also try re-uploading all files & folders – except the root wp-config.php & .htaccess files and the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folders before uploading the new ones. That should fix any recently damaged WP core files.

    I tried switching themes, and that seems to be the culprit. I find it odd because I don’t remember updating the theme, unless I was half asleep ??

    I will get in touch with the theme developers and let them know.

    Hi esmi,

    I tried getting in touch with the theme creators and they are one of the worst in terms of customer support, so I gave up on them and tried doing what you mentioned up above. Still seeing the same issue(s).

    What else would you recommend?
