I have the same problem as what someone has posted in the 1.5.3 release thread [unnecessary comments regarding a moderator removed]:

“How do you connect a wp account to facebook, under edit profile it just says Facebook Account Get started. No connect button or box to put your fb details in? “

    I too just get:

    “Facebook Account
    Get started”

With no link – not just on this theme, but my other sites do it too. Adding the Facebook URL or page further up under Contact info ‘Facebook profile URL’ doesn’t help either – nor would it link a page? I checked back 3 weeks but couldn’t see a thread for this problem.

Again I find I have to rollback to another version because you broke this plugin. It was finally actually working well and images properly posting via OpenGraph…sigh.

I also got the access token revoked error just now too…yes it was working fine, until I updated to the latest version.

Actually rolling back to 1.5.1, 1.5 nor 1.4 doesn’t fix it – the ‘Connect to Facebook’ button doesn’t work. Tried deactivating all other plugins – again doesn’t fix. No idea, it just seems to have broken in the same way on two completely different severs and themes after updating Facebook.

“Authenticate with Facebook to allow your Facebook application to post to your Timeline or Page on your behalf when a post is published” has an X by it – I assume as I can’t add an account to a profile, it can’t authenticate. Odd, since of course it has the correct App settings, anyway!

This is about the 3rd or 4th time this has happened, an update has broken this plugin. Really wary of updating again…

[unnecessary comments regarding a moderator removed]: – Err you could have answered my query? That would have been more useful?

Check the 1.5.3 release thread those who are wondering what I was referring to. :-/ I think I will start looking into other plugins, seems moderators and support is rather unfriendly here ??

Since I do not develop or support this plugin, any response I might have given would have been unlikely to have been useful in solving your plugin-specific issue.

Well I’ve worked out what it is – the plugin doesn’t work with Firefox – 24 on the Mac. At all – links won’t show on the Profile page. I thought it was my Disconnect Me plugin, but no, only ‘blocking’ plugins I have in FF are Adblock (doubtful that would cause a problem) and Flashblock – ditto. So I suspect it’s a browser compatibility issue, given that other people have this problem.

If you switch to Safari (6.0.5 Mac in my case) it’ll fix it. Or I suspect another browser (can’t really test that since I’ve banned Chrome from this machine, and I doubt Opera new would be compatible)

You also might have to deactivate and reactivate all your plugins…and/or delete and reinstall Facebook inc previous versions.

Trying it on one of my other blogs disabling each plugin in turn, doesn’t seem to be one of them otherwise eventually the profile links would have appeared. So looks like you might have to delete/reinstall the plugin or install previous version then upgrade?

Actually – the 2nd site refuses to do it, despite going through the same steps I did with site #1 – deactivating all plugins, reactivating Facebook, deleting FB plugin and installing 1.4, 1.5 and 1.5.2 then upgrading…on one site it suddenly worked in Safari. No dice with site 2 – same server, different WP install/domain.

So no idea how to fix it, or worryingly if the others ‘go’ and/or when the page auth tokens expire (60 Days? really?) I won’t be able to fix it. :-/

The first issue you describe, Facebook login JavaScript not appearing in the edit profile view, is typically an issue with an incorrectly configured Facebook application. Check the Facebook debug settings submenu from your WordPress admin interface to see values stored or missing related to Facebook login.

Looked at the Debugger in both and there isn’t any obvious error – if a incorrectly configured FB app was the fault it wouldn’t work on both would it? Whereas it’s working (and has been working for most of the year) on one WordPress install (both 3.6.1) and the other it now won’t. Same app. Different databases, but the same server. Same WP version. I tried disabling all plugins on that one, no joy.

The only issue I can see is minor – no Privacy Policy or TOS set…but the App is approved and again, it works fine for one install without those.

Oh and the working one shows ‘optionsframework’ whereas the non-working domain doesn’t.

Associating a WordPress profile with a Facebook profile uses the Facebook SDK for JavaScript. If you are blocking these scripts through a plugin such as Disconnect then the JavaScript needed to power the feature will not load and you will have problems.

The JavaScript files that should be loaded by your WordPress administrative interface:

    • connect.facebook.net/en_US/all.js
    • or connect.facebook.net/en_US/all/debug.js if SCRIPT_DEBUG is true

Yeah disabling Disconnect and other plugins was the first thing I did…it’s why I tried Safari which worked with the first WP install but not the second – that browser doesn’t have any ‘blocking’ plugins. Just tried it now with all extensions turned off. It’s not that…I can see the code link at the end of the page, it’s just not running.

Relying on important code like that in Javascript of all languages seems rather, well, dangerous to me…server side is much more reliable!

Hello, I’ve got the same problem here. Just this inactive “Get started” text under Facebook Account at the bottom of the Worpress profile page.

Really can’t figure out where it’s coming from, tried all browsers… ??

And no problem at all in the debug tab…

I managed to fix it ?? The facebook app couldn’t use the url of my website because it is a redirection, I had to put the real address behind this redirection. (logic;)).

    Great plugin !
