• Hello Admin(s),

I have WP Multisite installed on my cPanel. For some reason I can’t see or add my new site even after installing this plugin (and doing the required.)

I’ll go step by step, because I guess I may have missed something.

    1. Took a backup and disabled all my plugins
    2. Installed and network activated your plugin
    3. Moved sunrise.php into wp-content
    4. Added define( ‘SUNRISE’, ‘on’ ); to wp-config.php file
    5. Then Under Domain Mapping (Network Admin>>Settings>>Domain Mapping) I added my server IP Address. (I also tried the CNAME Record way. Nothing happens even after that. Waited for more than 2 hours.)
    6. Under ‘Domain Options’ the ‘user domain mapping page’ is checked.
    7. Tried adding the new site. Doesn’t get added. Gives this error.

Did I do something wrong? What am I missing here? Please help.

    Thanks in advance.

Remove the domain mapping plugin until you get the add new site working.

I just figured out a silly mistake I had made while adding a site. (It can’t have a . (dot).) So now I can add a new site, but the new site’s slug has the primary site name in its domain name. It should be new-site.com and not noblogshit.com/new-site.

What’s happening here? I am clueless. Please help. It’s urgent…!!

You have to add the site as a subsite of the main one. Once you create the site then you can map a domain to it.

I’m sorry to say this but you are not really helping.

It took me a day to figure out things by myself. I figured out that the dot shouldn’t be there. You simply said – remove the plugin until… Wow. I am guessing you are just answering for the sake of answering.

All I have to say right now is I STILL DON’T have my 2nd site up and running and I thought ‘how much time would it take to get my second site running?! huh, a couple of hours! must be easy.’

    Please help guys!

I managed to add a new site but now I can’t see a dashboard for it. Nor can see or apply a theme to it.

Can someone please go through this thread and see what I may have been missing? Please, it’s urgent!

    Thanks.

I had same problem. multisite feature and domain mapping work separately. so it’s not obvious what to do

you have multisite setup and domain mapping plugin installed and activated.

    next you do this

    1) create new site – subdomain.domain1.com
    2) check that new site works
    3) add new domain to domain mapping – domain2.com
    4) hover over My Sites link at top of page
    5) click on link to Network Admin / Sites
    6) however over subdomain.domain1.com site links
    7) click on edit
    8) change domain to https://www.domain2.com

seems that you can’t create https://www.domain2.com directly. you are forced to create a subdomain of primary domain, then edit it and change to the new domain.

    Hey Bruce!

Thanks for your reply. For now, I am installing a separate WP dashboard for the new site. This is too complex, or maybe I’m too lazy to fix this annoying issue now. (I’m short of time actually.)

PS – This issue is NOT resolved, but I’ll come back later. Maybe after a few months and post as to what I did to resolve this issue.

    Hey @brijesh,

You don’t seem to get the concept of open source software. This software is provided for *free*, including support from the author who is not charging you for his valuable time. Complaining to the author after he responded that he was not helping is insulting, and the fact that you have urgent problems which are “too complex” for you to solve yourself is your problem.

Yes I agree, and I sincerely apologize for being rude. @ron

Maybe I was too messed up and couldn’t figure out what to do (a month ago).

In about two months (after I started using WordPress) I have come to appreciate the fact that the WordPress community is probably the best community on the web. And also the fact that everyone in the community should be treated with respect.
