    Hi,
I’m trying to setup Google Optimize with my website, but when I paste in the ID it gives me (which starts with OPT), Site Kit returns me the following error: “Error: Not a valid Optimize ID.”
Is there any way I can fix it?

  • @gimaf thanks for your topic.

Just to confirm, when you visit your Optimize account, do you see the container ID that starts with GTM? That is the container code that Site Kit is expecting.

Feel free to let me know if you can obtain that container.

Hi, I would like to add onto this too as I’m encountering the same error. Clicking on “Configure Optimize” results in no action when this error shows up.

I’m making the assumption that all new Optimize containers are now starting with “OPT-” instead of “GTM-” (which seems to be for Google Tag Manager now).

Kindly verify with your Google Optimize colleagues to verify this. Thank you!

    Hi @reneesoffice,
Thank you for your reply. The container ID you’re referring to starts with OPT-. Unfortunately, there’s no container starting with “GMT-“.

@gimaf and @zazazu thanks for your feedback! We’re looking into this now and we’ll update you as soon as we have more information.

I have the same issue and am going to follow this post because getting this resolved would be awesome.

@gimaf and all thanks so much for your report! We’ll work on getting this fixed. Here’s the issue on our repository if you’d like to follow it. We’ll also update this topic when it’s available.

@gimaf we’ve just released version 1.8.0 which has a fix for the issue. You should be able to enter you OPT- container ID now. Could you update and let me know if it works for you?

    Hi @reneesoffice,

I was following on GitHub so it was nice to see the status get updated so quickly.

In my case the plugin no longer has a UI Panel. I updated the plugin from the dashboard, and saw that there was no UI Panel so I deactivated it and reactivated it and it displays a loading bar that never seems to be done loading. I tried this three times all of which had the same result.

Tags inserted via the plugin are still firing though.
