• Hello everyone,

    I searched in forums and I didn’t find a solution.
    I have an issue with a multisite for creating another user, and I’m asking to the community (for the first time) if anyone ever had the same issue, and if so, maybe a solution ??

    My problem is that : I have installed multisite, I can add new sites and or modify anything I want, but adding a new user have an error.
    With my super admin count, I can put name and mail for a registration, the person will receive that mail. When he click it, it will show a message telling “an error occur for the activation. Add a user is impossible”.
    It will do this if I add a new user from network admin/user or firstsite/user or any site user.

    So I’ve tried to change theme, to desactivate plugins, nothing change.

    Late I putted Multisite on “false”, then I can add a new user, switch back on “true” so I keep my new users.

    for the debugging the error will shown as :

    ? Notice: trying to get property ‘user_login’ of non-object in wp-includes/ms-functions.php on line 1483;
    ? Notice: trying to get property ‘user_login’ of non-object in wp-includes/ms-functions.php on line 1500;
    ? Fatal error: Uncaught Error wp-includes/user.php on line 1371

    (don’t know if it helps…)

    So the issue comes from multisite I think… Can anyone help me or have an idea please ?

    Be sure everything is brought up to date. Did you switch themes and deactivate all plugins, all at the same time? This is necessary to effectively test for conflicts. If you still have trouble with the twentytwenty theme active and no plugins, try doing a manual update from a fresh download to ensure all files belong to the same version. If you still have trouble after all of that, it’s likely there’s an issue with the server configuration, some sort of security measure perhaps.

    The PHP notices are because the function to send the admin an email that a new user had set their password was passed an invalid user ID. This shouldn’t happen when the emailed link is followed. All this tells us is something’s wrong after the user follows the emailed link, which we already knew.
