It sounds as if there is a fatal javascript error on the page. When this happens it is nearly 100% of the time due to a plugin/or theme not limiting its javascript to its own admin pages.

Open the page in Chrome, hit the F12 key and then click the Console tab.

All javascripts errors will be listed here.

If you mouseover/hover over the file name in the far right of the row, the file path will be shown. This file path very often gives a strong hint as to which plugin is causing the error.

If it doesn’t, you’ll have to deactivate all plugins except Connections and activate each one individually until the issue reoccurs. When it does the last plugin activateds is the cause.

    Hope that helps!

I deactivate all plugins except Connections but the issue is the same. When I disabled all plugin in Chrome console I can find the same error “Uncaught TypeError: undefined is not a function” in …/connections/assets/js/cn-admin.min.js?ver=8.1.5

If that is the error you’re getting with all plugins deactivated, then the theme must being something that interferes with the version of jQuery being loaded… best guess without being able to view the error and looking at the page source. What happens when you switch to TwentyTwelve?

    Oh …

Wanted to ask which theme and is it publicly available?

I tried to change the theme (from Sahifa (premium) to Twenty Twelve) but the issue is the same.

Somehow there were still old versions of the scripts and possibly other files. Deleting and reinstalling Connections loaded all new files and it is working properly now.

    Hope that helps!

I’m trying to modify an old entry (adding new field) or make a new entry but I have the same issue: I can’t add new field.

The old files were restored. I deleted and reinstalled the plugin, again. The current files are now being loaded. Make sure to force refresh your browser so the correct file is downloaded by the browser.

Also, whatever is setup to restore files … you need to update or clear so the files are not being updated with old versions.

I tried with Chrome, Firefox and Safari, windows and mac computer (clearing cache before) but I have the same issue!
One question to know if it depends on me: by logging with my data, you are able to add a new field to a new card or a card that already exists?

I’m sorry, but there is nothing I can do to help. You or your web host has something setup which is overwriting the Connections (maybe other plugins too) CSS and Javascript files with old versions.

I can update the files to the latest version and about 10 minutes later the older versions have been restored.

Please see for yourself. Deactivate, delete and reinstall Connections. Force refresh your browser. You’ll see it works just fine. Now wait 10 to 156 minutes and force refresh your browser. No longers works because the old files were restored.

Hope that helps you track do the issue!

Many thanks. I call my web hosting service and I discovered that there was a script on my server which was restoring all old versions of each plugin files every 10 minutes!!!

Good to hear you’ve tracked down the source of the issue!
