• For the life of me I can’t figure this one out. I’m experimenting a bit with blogs, and so have added a few to My.Yahoo already without difficulty. Now I’m trying to add another one, and it just will NOT add itself! No problem adding it to My.MSN, but no love from Yahoo. I’ve validated the feed and it’s just fine, so… any ideas?

    Here’s the feed:

When I go to add it to Yahoo, it finds it, and presents me with the “add to my Yahoo” button. Clicking it causes exactly nothing to happen. Have tried in IE and FireFox, disabled popup blocking, etc.

    Any ideas appreciated. Thanks!

  • See Search Engine Optimization for WordPress in the Codex and then contact Yahoo. If your feed validates, then there is little we can do.

Well, unfortunately that document didn’t help. As I posted earlier, this feed works just fine in My.MSN, and I have OTHER blogs (both Blogger and WP blogs) in My.Yahoo, but for whatever reason just THIS blog will not add to My.Yahoo. Yahoo sees it just fine, shows me the recent posts, but will NOT add it to my page.

Anyone have any crazy ideas as to what could be going on? It’s been like this since yesterday.

Someone on my forum is having a similar problem… He mentioned that if he has WP in a folder, the feed is added to My Yahoo – but if he uses it as a homepage (installed in his root folder), it will not be added to My Yahoo. When he first mentioned the problem – I looked on a few other forums – the consensus seemed to be that the newest WP didn’t work with My Yahoo… But it must not be the version number – but where it’s installed?

Well I’m installed in a sub-directory, not at root, so that doesn’t appear to be my problem at least.

I just encountered one other post in another forum with the same problem, but with a Blogger blog! So, something else appears to be going on here… can’t figure it out. =(

Some one has to know the answer to this.
In one post someone said that Yahoo does not accept .php files that they have to be .xml files, is this true?
Is this why we can not add our feed to yahoo?

Any suggestions on how to solve this problem?

    Thank you.

ok I think I know what the problem is, assuming your feed validates properly. I think feeds need to be indexed by Yahoo before it will work. The feed you just added probably has not been indexed by Yahoo so nothing happens right away after you added it into your My Yahoo.

After adding it to My Yahoo, go to the bottom of the page and you should see a empty box with no news headlines. That is the feed you just added (even though it doesn’t say so.) It should update itself after a while I guess in 10-20 minutes after Yahoo indexes the feed.

Another thing is to make sure you click on Edit->Edit Content and display articles in the past whatever days you want. If you set it to 2 days and there has been no new posts in the last 2 days, no news headlines will show up.

Let me know if this is the case.

I am having the same problem! Driving me nuts. Did you ever find a solution? I have tried adding a link through feedburner also. The feed validates in other readers, it’s been indexed in Yahoo (because I successfully added it to Yahoo before), and I’m stumpted. All suggestions welcome.

Two additional points since I wrote this post originally:
    1) I have also attempted to add the feed through https://e.my.yahoo.com/config/xcontent (which I found as a workaround suggestion on https://consumingexperience.blogspot.com/2005/02/myyahoo-how-to-add-your-feed.html … but yet, that doesn’t work either.

    2) I tried adding the feed to my.yahoo on a second machine (to a different my.yahoo acct) and that didn’t work either.
