New posts only get category Uncategorized

Hi!
I’ve created a new post form with title, category and content. The post title and content is saved but the category I choose doesn’t get added to the new post. Instead the post gets the category uncategorized. Even when I change “new post terms” to “specific terms” and specify a specific category the post gets that specific category AND uncategorized category. I’ve tried to have “new post terms” set to “current term” and also to have it empty but it still doesn’t work, I’m getting the same error.

I’m using Astra theme and I’ve tried to unload all plugins except elementor and elementor pro.

Am I missing something?
