    Hi,

I think I resolved most of the issues and select activate SSL. It seems like it starts, but this warning stays: “The wp-config.php file is not writable, and needs to be edited. Please set this file to writable.”

However, once I navigate from SSL page and come back, SSL is not active anymore and I need to activate it again.

    Any suggestions, please?

    Thanks,
    Srecko

    Hi @sjoksimovic,

see https://really-simple-ssl.com/htaccess-wp-config-file-not-writable/ for instructions on how to make your wp-config.php file writable. SSL should not be automatically disabled after activating SSL. Did you press the ‘Activate SSL’ button? Could you also provide us with your site address so we can have a look at your SSL certificate?

    Hi Mark,

That actually might be a problem as I think I should have an SSL certificate already. In that case, I guess I might not need to activate it (yup, did press the button)?

    It’s datasciencehub.c3l.ai.

    Hi @sjoksimovic,

Really Simple SSL seems active and the certificate is correctly configured. Could you share a screenshot of your dashboard and share your system status? It’s on the right-hand corner of the dashboard, available for download.

You have defined the home url of your site hardcoded in the wpconfig with http, and the wpconfig seems not writable. Because of this WordPress redirects the site back to http.

You can change the url to https in the wp config, or set the wpconfig to writable, so Really Simple SSL can fix it. Then you can activate ssl in the plugin.

    Thanks Rogier,

I made the file writable, clicked Activate SSL button and now can’t access my website.
It says “This page isn’t working”.

    Any suggestions, please?

    Thanks,

This sounds like a redirect loop: something is still redirecting your site back to http.

You can quick fix it by reverting the changes:

    https://really-simple-ssl.com/uninstall-websitebackend-not-accessible/

Or manually (see link at bottom of the article).

Then, before activating ssl again, the redirect to http should be removed first.

Apparently it’s not just the wp config that is forcing your site to http.

This might be in the htaccess, or in a redirect plugin.

Please also check your wp config, maybe you can see quickly what went wrong with the url, and correct that.
