• I’ve tried to activate more than one plug-in and keep getting the “can’t active; caused fatal error message”.

I’m also using the Cutline theme 1.1–which is supposed to be widget-ready, but even though WordPress appears to allow me to create custom sidebars, all I get is the default.

In trying to get an answer to that, I noticed I didn’t have a “widgets” folder (even though that is supposed to be there automatically with WP over version 2.2?). So installed myself, got the “sidebar” plugin to show up, tried to activate it–and “fatal error.”

All I want is to get my blogroll to show. I can create them, mark them “visible,” but can’t get them to show up in a sidebar.

  • You don’t need any “widgets” folder and for your WP version you don’t need a widgets plugin.

What happens if you switch (temporarily) to the calssic or default theme?

Are the plugins you are trying to activate compatible with your WP version?

I have no sucess with the default theme, either. Blogroll doesn’t show.

I did just find another plugin, “Better Blogroll” which was definitely compatible. That DID activate, but even after dragging to the sidebar, the blogroll still did not show.

I’ve also been trying the Cutline website for answers in their posts, but the one answer I found having to do with a typo in the functions.php doesn’t apply, as I don’t have that error in my file (they had already fixed the theme download).

Any other ideas as to why sidebars not updating / selected widgets not showing.

(PS. One of the plugins wasn’t compatible–so perhaps that answers that–but main blogroll not displaying issue still remains for me.)
