I’m trying to add Jetpack to a new site. I’m definitely logged into WordPress.com but I keep getting the error Something went wrong. You need to log in to WordPress.com to enable Jetpack

According to Wordfence, Jetpack is trying to log in as “admin” but that is not my admin name. How can I tell Jetpack what name to use instead?

    Hi!
Have you tried to do this using a different browser?
If you’re still having issues with this, try deleting Jetpack specifically from the Plugins section of your blog’s Dashboard: https://jetpack.com/support/reconnecting-reinstalling-jetpack/#reinstalling-jetpack after that, install it again following these steps:

    Hi –

Thanks for responding. I was trying in Firefox yesterday; per your suggestion I’ve tried in Chrome today. I get as far as logging in with WP.com and using 2-factor, but then the screen with “continue with WP / continue with Google” just reloads. Have tried several times with both.

Also deactivated, deleted, reinstalled and tried both log ins again. There’s no error message – it just goes in a circle.

Thanks for checking that. Are there any browser extensions enabled?

No, I have disabled all extensions and cleared cache.

I’ve tried in Firefox which says “Something went wrong. You need to log in to WordPress.com to enable Jetpack” (I am logged in).

I’ve tried in Chrome (continue with WordPress) which says it’s sending a notification to my WP app (which never arrives) so then I use the code in my authenticator app, which just reloads the page.

I’ve also tried continue with Google in Chrome which just reloads the log in page.

I have also switched to 20 20 Theme and repeated all of the above, still doesn’t work.

Got it – disabled Firefox’s “enhanced tracking protection” and it worked. Hope this helps someone else!
