I have downloaded version 1.5.7 and tried to activate the plugin, but this is what happened:
    1. Click “Install” for Global Content Blocks on the “Plugins” page in WordPress
    2. WordPress processes request
    3. The Plugin page refreshes with a message that the plugin is activated
    4. However, the GCB is not activated (name on the plugin list is grey and not black like other plugins that are activated) and I cannot locate its admin interface under WordPress’ “Settings” section
    5. Moreover, my hosting service provider has detected that GCB has executed a slow MySQL query. This is the message I have received:

    MySQL Query: SELECT * FROM INFORMATION_SCHEMA.COLUMNS WHERE TABLE_NAME = ‘wp_gcb’ AND COLUMN_NAME = ‘type’

My hosting service provider has now suspended my account and marked the reason as abuse. I can’t even access my account to delete GCB. I have now basically lost my website, and I don’t know if I can get my account back.

    Can anyone help?

With over 30,000 downloads and no previous reports of this kind I find it very hard to believe that GCB has caused this issue. It’s possible there could be a conflict with another plugin? All I can suggest is that you ask your host to delete the GCB folder from the wp-plugins folder.

Since my host has identified specifically the wp_gcb table, and I don’t have any similar plugins installed, I doubt it was a conflict with another plugin. I landed on GCB on recommendation from another WP developer, so I wasn’t expecting this problem either.

It doesn’t need to be a similar plugin to cause a conflict…

Guess we won’t know until or if I get my account back…

    Hi Benz1,

I just want to let you know that my host has restored my account and deleted the wp_gcb table before I had the chance to ask them to do so. For fear of jeopardizing my account again, I didn’t attempt to install GCB again to identify where the glitch was.

It’s too bad that I don’t get to try GCB, but much thanks for your speedy responses! Keep up the good work, and perhaps I would be able to use GCB in future projects.
