• When I try to access the admin “version” of my site I am quickly redirected to a 127.0.0.1 error (“This site can’t be reached 127.0.0.1 refused to connect. ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED”).

I have looked a little online and some say that clearing your web cache fixes the issue, but I have done this and I still get the same issue.

I am still able to access my actual site, I am just not able to get into the wordpress admin site in order to make edits/updates to my site.

Any and all help is appreciated!!

Err_Connection_Refused error is indicative of a connection issue that could be coming from the browser, or the server hosting the site you are trying to access. Sometimes, it could be that your firewall or antivirus software is preventing your connectivity. Other times, your router could be the culprit

I don’t think it is an issue with my router because it doesn’t let me access the site anywhere (even if I’m using different wifi).

I don’t think it’s an issue with my antivirus either because I still can’t access the site with a different device (like my phone).

Do you know how I would go about testing/fixing the problem as if it were a connection issue coming from the browser/server?

Try manually resetting your plugins (no Dashboard access required). If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

If that does not resolve the issue, access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel, navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and rename the directory of your currently active theme. This will force the default theme to activate and hopefully rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).
