• I am still not able to access my website admin dashboard – please can anyone offer some help – in a very non-technical fashion?
My website tells me that the page is not found and if I try to log in to the wp-admin page it redirects me to a page that says ‘page not found – this is somewhat embarrassing isn’t it?’
I’ve tried disabling plug-ins and changing the theme – exactly the same happened just in a different theme.
I can access the CPanel but am not sure what I am doing here, so am reluctant to change anything in case I mess it up even more.
Can I reload wordpress from the CPanel – what will that do?

Hi – i’m not sure about doing much of this, but I tried to change my password for the admin user through my CPanel as it was not what I have used in the past and it won’t let me change it – it keeps reverting to a different password from the one before and it won’t save the MD5 setting either.

    Hi there,

Your https://meremutts.co.uk/wp-login.php is having problems with redirects. This may be a problem with your .htaccess file.

Try going, via ftp or cpanel file manager, to where you’ve installed WordPress. Make a backup copy of the .htaccess, and then delete it. Then try to go to https://meremutts.co.uk/wp-login.php and see if that works.

If you manage then to get into the admin, go to settings / permalinks to generate a new .htaccess file automatically.

In WordPress, there is more than one way for Rsetting Your Password . I find the phpMyAdmin method to be the most straight-forward, as you’ll be changing the password directly in the database
