Can’t access page from abroad (403 error)

  • Hi!

    I can’t access neither my webpage nor the admin page from abroad, I get the following error:

    403 You don’t have permission to access / on this server.

    Whenever I’m in my country (where my domain is registered), I have no problem …

    Any suggestions (I’m a noob)?

    It may be that either your host is doing geo-blocking or you’ve installed a plugin that’s doing so. I get the same message trying to access your site from the US. I think the first thing to do is to contact your host.

    I don’t understand the last part:

    Then you can re-configure “Maching rule” and “Country code for matching rule” at “Validation rule settings” properly. After that, do not forget to restore the ip-geo-block.php on your server to the original one.

    Are you using that plugin? If so, the easiest thing to do is to disable it by renaming it’s directory in wp-content/plugins (access via FTP or your hosting control panel). (The “deactivate by force” option on the page you linked.)

    I probably understood it wrong – can you use this plug in to bypass the geo-block? Or can this only be done by contacting your host?

    *IF* you installed that plugin, that is how to bypass it. If you have not installed the plugin, then it’s totally irrelevant. Contact your host.
