• Once I downloaded wordpress(vista)no dashboard appears. The only thing at the top of the page is “Name”, “Type”, “Compressed Size”, “Password Protected”, etc. Do I have to do all that complicated stuff to download wordpress, can’t I just click on download(that’s what I did). I put it on my desktop. What am I doing wrong, and is there somebody I can talk too?

  • The support volunteers are here for you to talk to.

WordPress is not like your usual computer application that you install on your computer and take with you (or get stolen when your computer is stolen ! ). Instead WordPress is a WEB Application, it is installed upon a web server, it stays connected to the internet always, it can be accessed from anywhere on the internet.

While it can be installed as a local webserver on a PC, this is only useful to website developers and propeller heads like myself.

    Hello mwilly,
You need a webserver to make it run. Download any all-in-one web server package to run wordpress.
I have linked Bitnami wordpress installer page, in window section you will find WordPress 3.9.2-0 which is around 78MB. Download it, Run it and follow the steps.
Just in case, if you got confused with whole version thing. Here is the direct link to WordPress 3.9.2-0 installer
