Can’t get my head around this.

I can’t access my blog from my imac, nexus 7 or nexus 10. Though this morning the nexus 10 would access it for a few mins then time out again. I’ve asked others to go to blog.derekchristiephotography.com and they can see the site fine.

So It’s something at my end, has to be. The blog works fine for everyone else. My ISP says it isn’t blocked (Not the issue anyway so about to call them), Godaddy tells me all is good their end. I just can’t figure it out. I’ve got a ton of posts to add as this has been going on for a while now.

I’ve tried everything I know. reboot system and router. Try and access dns address. I can access the site via a VPN like megaproxy but my knowledge of what this means is limited.

    Here is a ping test:

Last login: Thu Dec 4 02:16:09 on ttys000
    Dereks-iMac-2:~ dtchristie$ ping blog.derekchristiephotography.com

Not good and here the beginning of the traceroute:

There is definitely an issue between my router and their server as I see it but any help I could get would be hugely appreciated.

  • Either your IPS or GD is not being completely honest (or simply not seeing the issue that s clearly there). I would venture to say that it is on the server side and not your ISP.

If you can use a VPN and access the site, it means that your IP range from your ISP is the culprit and most of the time it is security settings on the server side. I would recheck with GD and possibly your host dashboard for any security settings.

    Thanks Justingreerbbi,

Got nowhere on the phone with provider as expected. Won’t escalate to wholesale fibre supplier for not being able to access one website. It’s my website though!

I’ve got a workaround though. Ive signed up for a VPN which I can switch on for blog posts and back of for general use so as not to screw up my speeds.

    Thanks again.

I’ll mark it as done but I’ve seen a few posts with similar issues so maybe VPN is the way to go.
