  • When I go to your wp-admin it says:

    To allow use of this page to automatically repair database problems, please add the following line to your wp-config.php file. Once this line is added to your config, reload this page.

    define(‘WP_ALLOW_REPAIR’, true);

    Try to add the line to you wp-config.php and see what happens.

    Thanks for the quick response, since I’m panicking (Ha). I went to https://www.lifeonthehighwire.com/wp-config.php and still get the database error message. Am I not using the right URL to access it?

    Alain – the update is I restored some of the SQL files (after contacting Bluehost, who hosts the site), so at least the site is back up. But now I can’t get into the admin side – when I hit lifeonthehighwire.com/wp-admin (or the .php) it just takes me to the main site again. Any ideas?

    You wouldn’t actually go to a URL to add any lines to wp-config.php

    It is a file, you would do it using FTP

    –or, (I”m also on bluehost) you access your cpanel on bluehost, and use their built in file editor to add code to any files

    Now I’m getting this message – just restored in bluehost and didn’t help:

    W3 Total Cache Error: some files appear to be missing or out of place. Please re-install plugin or remove /home2/gonescam/public_html/lifeonthehighwire/wp-content/advanced-cache.php.

    So I deleted the cache files, and now it tells me I don’t have permission (again). Argh.

    Update: I’ve got bluehost working on it and they’re doing something because now I can get back into the admin side, but all my plugins are deactivated. Site is a mess, but I assume this is part of their work.
