I had JetPack installed on a self hosted blog for about 4 months now. Yesterday publicize did not work and hence I tried to go to the JetPack administrative page but it said I had Rest-API disabled. I enabled it. I then saw that xmlrpc was also disabled which I enabled again. But it did not work.

I then reinstalled the plugin successfully. But now, I can not access the plugin page itself. When I try to activate JetPack, I get a error mentioning this – Sorry, you are not allowed to access this page.

    Some one please suggest.

  • Hi there,

Sorry about the delay in writing back to you!

Can you please copy and paste the URL of the page where you’re seeing this error? Could you make sure you’re logged into an account with administrative access to manage your plugins.

    Cheers.

Thanks for the reply @lamdayap! The URL is – wp-admin/admin.php?page=jetpack_modules

Hi @dudez0r – Hmm that link shouldn’t be any issue. Is the account your logged into an admin account?

If so, can you please try once more to reinstall the plugin, but this time delete the plugin completely first via FTP and then reinstall it via the wp-admin dashboard?

This should delete any corrupt files that may have lingered from the previous installation.

@lamday, I have just one Admin account that I am logged in with. I deleted the plugin and reinstalled it. Same issue. I get to the first screen that says:

    Connect Jetpack to WordPress.com

Get detailed visitor stats, state-of-the-art security services, image performance upgrades, traffic generation tools, and more. Connect to WordPress.com to get started!

When it refreshes, I get the – Sorry, you are not allowed to access this page.

Are your account user roles modified in any way? Would you mind posting your site URL here, so I can run it through our debug tools?

@dudez0r – Did someone from our support team get back to you in the end? Please let me know so that I can close off this thread if necessary.

@lamdayap, no one did. Not a single response. I am going to uninstall the plugin now.

@dudez0r – I’m really sorry to hear that. If you are still up to getting Jetpack working, please send through another email – It’s possible the first one could have gotten lost as we transitioned between helpdesk systems.

Nope. I’m good. I found other plugins to get things done for me. Thanks.
