    Hi!
I’m completely new to WordPress and I’m trying to install it locally first on my Ubuntu system before moving it to my webhost.
I’ve been reading through the installation instructions provided on the www.remarpro.com site, but when I get to the 5th step (Run the Install Script) I got stuck since I get a ‘404 Not found’ error when I try to access https://localhost/wp-admin/install.php. If I put a test html file in my /var/www folder I can see it ok, so I know it’s probably not and Apache problem… what can I be doing wrong here? I’ve been looking at the docs and can’t find anything related.
I’m now getting to the point of despair and don’t really know what else to try.. any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

Did you try a test .php file? Just something real basic to see if your PHP interpreter is functioning properly?
