The website at 2014.attendicec.org has been up since February 2014. It’s a conference website, so every year we create a new subdomain for the next conference website (this year is 2015.attendicec.org, etc.), but we retain the old site in order to provide archived information about the program and the planning committee, which is important to our association members.

I am trying to access the 2014 site’s stats from this time last year so that I can compare our traffic from last year to this year. Unfortunately, I can only see stats back as far as July 2014. Why can’t I see stats back to February 2014 on that domain, and is there any way I can get those data?

Since the 2 sites have different URLs, the stats are collected in 2 different sets. To access your old stats, you’ll need to log in to the old site here:
    https://www.2014.attendicec.org/wp-admin

Another alternative would be to access the stats for both sites here:
    https://wordpress.com/stats/

I realize that, Jeremy. I am saying that at https://www.2014.attendicec.org/wp-admin, the stats only go back to July 2014 when the site is older than that. I don’t understand why, or if there is another way I can find those older stats. Did something significant change at that time that would have caused a loss of stats before then? Or are the stats only retained for 10 months and then dumped? I just can’t figure it out.

I’m afraid I have no other records about the site in our system. Is it possible that the site had a different URL when you first connected it to Jetpack? Or is it possible that Jetpack Stats were not enabled when you first created the site?

Well, as I mentioned, it is a subdomain. Until this February, https://www.attendicec.org pointed to 2014.attendicec.org – so could there be stats under that? Now, the “master” domain points to the 2015 site, but from February 2014 to February 2015, it pointed to the 2014 site.

I didn’t set up the 2014 site, so I cannot say for sure if Jetpack was installed at the beginning, and I can’t figure out how to tell when it was first installed for the site. All I can see in my files on my host server is the last date the files were updated for the plugin, which was last Friday because I try to be diligent about updating my plugins regularly.

I’m afraid I see no other stats other than the ones you can currently access on the 2014 and the 2015 sites. If your site was connected to WordPress.com before July 14, it was connected to another WordPress.com account, with another site URL.

Could you ask the person who set up the site to contact us through this form? We might be able to get some data that’s currently associated to their own WordPress.com account.

There was definitely NOT another site URL, but there could have been another WordPress.com account connected to the site. It was set up by a contractor; I will contact her to see if she will help us out by filling in the form. Thanks!

OK – I think I have the answer. I contacted the WordPress freelancer who set up the initial 2014 site for us, and she replied as follows:

I went back over the site logs from development and found that I created a Google Analytics account (login at https://www.google.com/analytics/) with your email address as the username. I do not have a record of a password, but it can be found via the lost password function and will be sent to your email address. I double checked my top level analytics account and was able to confirm that I do not have it in my client account. In response to “Or is it possible that Jetpack Stats were not enabled when you first created the site?” This is correct, a different plugin was enabled to show the stats, called Google Analytics Dashboard, which allowed admins to see stats in the WordPress Dashboard. Someone must have enabled Jetpack in July – and disabled the Google Analytics Dashboard. Enabling Jetpack places the stats in the WordPress.com arena, rather than just www.remarpro.com.

So…Google Analytics Dashboard was NOT disabled, it was running concurrently with Jetpack. I probably installed Jetpack myself because I was already familiar with it from other sites and prefer the interface, though I don’t remember doing it. Anyway. I will try looking at Google Analytics for the older data, and I appreciate your help getting here.
