• Howdy,

A bit of an obvious one probably.

I installed Elementor yesterday and redid my home page. Looks great.

Also realise I can save templates of parts of the page – I have a number of boat plans and I can use templates of each individual plan panel on other pages – brilliant.

Everything saved and displaying properly. Still is.

Then I decided I needed a shorter version of each plan panel to also put in different pages on the website.

So WITHOUT SAVING – I went through and modified the panels on my plan page to simpler versions and saved them as Templates too. That was without hitting update.

    That worked great as well.

    _________________________________________

Now when I visit my live homepage it shows as I left it with the long version about each plan.

    So saved properly.

But when I hit “edit with elementor” the edit screen opens but doesn’t show the actual current page but the unsaved draft version.

    When I go to
    History > Revisions
there is one with a star beside it saying it is the current version. I click on that and it shows the non current draft version of the page. Not the one that is currently displayed.

I’ve looked at all the other revisions and none of them show the current page – all show the modified page when I was making smaller boxes of my products.

If anyone can help to show me how to click on edit for the current live page and see that page in the editor I would be very happy.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Cancel that request.

I’m not going to use Elementor.

Why … had a missing link on my page, thought I could fix a simple thing through the wordpress interface and the page formatting – a lot of hours work is gone.

Was excited about the templating but I will find another solution.

    Thankyou
    Michael

    Hi Boatmik,

I am sorry to hear you had these problems.
I use Elementor on 50+ sites and shops and never look back. I absolutely love it and it saves me tons of time!

I would strongly recommend to start taking backups of your work, whether you stop using Elementor, or not. In that case you could at least revert back to a previous version and not lose your hard work. There are lots of good options, but I love using the free All in one migration plugin to backup and migrate sites.

I would also suggest, to work/test, learn how to use Elementor, in a subfolder so you can get used to it before actually doing stuff in the live site.

I am not sure what happened, but it does seem to be lack of knowing how to handle it. In case you want to give it a try, this will be helpfull: https://docs.elementor.com/article/60-library

You need to chose to edit a certain page with Elementor or the WordPress editor, not switch between them on the same page, that cause errors.
