• I can access my admin page over the net and locally. But when I try to view the blog (WP tries to use the site URL), I can’t access it.

It’s installed on a Synology RS814 running DSM 5.2-5592 Update 1. I have a domain managed by GoDaddy. The A record points correctly to my IP, and I have a subdomain forwarded to the correct port and directory (ie, blog.example.com is forwarded to https://www.example.com:12345/wordpress). I have port forwarding setup on my router such that external port 12345 redirects to internal port 80.

If I go to https://www.example.com:12345/wordpress/wp-login.php I can access my admin page. Locally, 192.168.1.x/wordpress will gain me access to my admin page. Using https://www.example.com:12345/wordpress returns “This page can’t be displayed…Make sure the web address https://www.example.com:12345 is correct”

Of note, I have Photo Station running on my Synology as well, and I can access it with no problems with photos.example.com (with GoDaddy forwarding photos.example.com to https://www.example.com:12345/photos).

I have no idea how to correct this.

  • Is this a new install of WordPress? And have you tried disabling all plugins as well as switching back to the default Twenty Fifteen theme? And have you tried going to Settings > Permalinks and clicking Save Changes?

Oh, and what happens if you remove the need for port forwarding and just have things set to port 80???

Is this a new install of WordPress?

Yes and no. I did a clean install, dropped all the tables from the new DB, and imported tables from my old site (after using myphpadmin to replace all instances of blog.old-example.com with blog.example.com).

    yes, yes, and yes

Haven’t tried that, but I don’t want 80 exposed externally. And if my photo site on my synology server is working fine w/ port forwarding, I don’t see why WP won’t function. Not to mention that https://www.example.com:12345/wordpress/wp-login.php works…

Hmm, I’m not an expert with port forwarding but I would hasten to say that just because your photo site works that means WordPress will work as well. But, I understand your dilemma.

I Googled a bit and found this possible solution:

    I’ll keep looking! ??

    Here’s another possible solution:

Be sure your WordPress Address (URL) and Site Address (URL) are setup correctly!
