I’ve been trying to reload a fresh copy of Word Press 3.0.1 but when I do I get the following error message. My blog is completely blank and I cannot access the admin. Below is the message:

Warning: require(/home/derrick9/public_html/renwl.org/wp-includes/load.php) [function.require]: failed to open stream: Permission denied in /home/derrick9/public_html/renwl.org/wp-settings.php on line 19

Fatal error: require() [function.require]: Failed opening required ‘/home/derrick9/public_html/renwl.org/wp-includes/load.php’ (include_path=’.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php’) in /home/derrick9/public_html/renwl.org/wp-settings.php on line 19

    Any ideas anyone? I’m desperate.

    Thanks in advance.

Yes. It is. But I noticed something. I have a folder named “renwl” and I have one named “renwl.org”

But the renwl.org is where all the WP files are stored.

There’s nothing but a single (1) theme file in the “renwl” folder.

looks like you must have some file missing or are corrupted did you try and upload fresh copy.

When you installed did it install fine

Yea, that’s just it. I got that error message when I tried to upload a fresh copy of WordPress. I attempted to do that through Fantastico on my Cpanel.

It worked. I named the file WordPress. I hope I did this right because now it looks like I have a brand new blog. Is there any way to get my posts back?

My blog url now says https://renwl.org/wordpress/.

    Before it was https://renwl.org/.

Please tell I didn’t delete my old blog.

So you had wordpress your on your domain name I just clicked on it seems as there problem with your functions.php file if you have copy of functions.php that came with your theme just upload that file replace the one you have now in wp-content/themes/yourtheme in your root https://renwl.org/

You won’t believe this, but that’s what I originally was trying to do. However as luck would have it the person who created my theme removed the theme file from his Website. I’d went there to download it again.

I’m guessing that the functions.php file must be from that exact theme, correct?

yes as all themes have functions.php file to test your wordpress if its working in root rename the theme you were using so that default twenty ten theme opens.
