• Hi,

All of a sudden I’m not being able to access ANY part of the site (wp-admin, wp-login and any of the pages).

I tried disabling the plugins via ftp and the theme and nothing works.

Also restored a backup of the database from a few days ago but again, nothing.

Problem started after a failed “save” of gzipcompress from 0 to 1 in https://www.mysite.com/wp-admin/options.php

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks

try MANUALLY re-uploading all files and folders EXCEPT the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones. Read the Manual Update directions first!
BTW, if you haven’t already done, always backup everything (including your database) before doing any actions, just in case something really goes wrong. It’s a great safety net.

    *replaced real url with ‘myurl’

Looks like there’s a problem with your database. Do you have a backup copy?

    Hi esmi,

I’ve tried restoring from 3 different copies of a backup that I have and keep getting the same error! What could be the problem?

Do you have any older backups?

No just these 3 .sql files. One is from a plugin and the others from the host. Do you have any idea what those errors I poster earlier might mean?

I think I may have also changed the config.php table prefix when I had installed the db and now, after resetting the php file can’t remember what it was. Could this be the problem?

    – double check your wp-config.php file settings for the database information.

    Hi Tara,

I did. Its the default wp_ now as I reset the config file today. Originally when installing I had changed it to something I do not remember and forgot to change it back to that today. Is there somewhere else I can see what that table prefix I originally set up was?

I can still access all my files via ftp. Do you know what the best way to reset my site or database and maintain these files is?

perhaps in the older backup copy of your DB
