    Hi Support,

I manage a number of websites, and have been updating the Monster Insights plugin to the latest version throughout all of them. I’m having an issue with one of my websites when I update the plugin, or attempt to activate it.

When I activate/update the plugin, the admin area of the website becomes inaccessible. The website becomes accessible if I deactivate the plugin via FTP. This issue only comes up with one of my websites. The rest of my websites have had no problems updating to the new / latest version of the Monster Insights plugin.

Do you think this might be happening because of a conflict with another plugin perhaps?

Getting help with this would be great as I’d very much like to get the Google Analytics for the website back up an running. I’m happy to give admin access to the website to figure out the problem.

    Cheers,

    David

    Hi there,
There are 2 causes of getting a 500 error, neither of which we can directly solve.

    1. Out of date plugin: If you use WooCommerce Google Analytics by SkyVerge/WooThemes, or Google Analytics Top Content Widget by Justin Sternberg, both of these need to be on their latest version before updating to MonsterInsights 6.0.0, due to incompatible code they had in older versions.

    2. PHP Object Caching: If your server utilizes PHP object caching, after updating to MonsterInsights 6.0.0 you (or your hosting provider) will need to clear this cache, so that the cache doesn’t attempt to load classes that do not exist anymore

    Hi,

thanks for your reply, but this isn′t aplying to us.

to 1. We don′t use these
to 2. We are not using cgicaching either (PHP 5.2.17)

So are you still working on this matter?

    Hi there,
What does the error message say in the PHP error log file (if you don’t know where this is, your host should be able to retrieve this for you)?

    Hi,

we are not recording logs. Sorry.

    Hi there,
PHP error logging is automatically done on almost every hosting provider (or PHP stack) unless it’s been explicitly turned off. In this case you would want to turn on WP_DEBUG by adding a define( ‘WP_DEBUG’, true ); if it’s not defined to false (in which case just change the false to true) in the wp-config.php file. This will display the error being experienced. Without this error, there’s not much we can do
