    Hi @mcian

We understand that when you activate the Yoast SEO plugin, the trailing slash at the end of your canonical URLs disappears, are we understanding it correctly?

Upon checking https://blog.handshake.com, it looks like it is using an older version of Yoast SEO Premium v11.5. If you have an active subscription, please do update it to the latest version of v17.5 and contact us directly for support – https://yoast.com/help/support/#premium

Otherwise, please do install the latest version of Yoast SEO Free v17.5 and see if this addresses the issue. We would expect that if your Permalink settings are set to ‘post name’, that it would include the trailing slash at the end.

Otherwise, we see problems occur in combination with another plugin or theme. The fastest way to rule out any conflict, is to deactivate all non-Yoast plugins and switch to a standard theme like Twenty Twenty.

Please test this on your development or staging site, if you have one. If not, we recommend using the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin. This plugin has a troubleshooting mode, which does not affect normal visitors to your site.

If you’re unfamiliar with checking for conflicts, we’d like to point you to a step-by-step guide that will walk you through the process: How to check for plugin conflicts

    Hey,

it happens with all plugins deactivated and with default theme, it also happens with regular YOAST (non prem). And it is gone once YOAST is disabled. Its also fine when entering trouble shooting mode, but it goes wrong, once (x)Enable while troubleshooting for YOAST is active (= the only active plugin).

So, in shot, from what i see it might be related to YOAST.

    Hi @mcian

The website appears to be on an outdated version of Yoast SEO Premium v11.5. Would it be possible for you to update to the most recent version of Yoast SEO Free v17.5 and perform the conflict check from there and see if the issue still occurs?

We don’t support outdated versions of our plugins and WordPress, and we want to rule out that the issue is being caused by outdated plugins and themes.

Yes, we are already searching the person in charge to get the premium version license keys. I will report back no matter what the result is!

    Hi,

Thanks for your response. Please do perform a conflict check with a default setup with a default WP theme such as TwentyTwenty, and only the Yoast SEO plugins (latest version v17.5) enabled and do check if this issue still occurs with the trailing slash for your canonicals, so we can rule out a plugin or theme conflict.
