I’m currently trying to fix technical SEO mistakes for a client on several domains where All in One SEO Pack is extensively used. When it comes to canonical URLs I found the following issue:

Setup configuration was set very simple, the blog starts on the front page. Canonical URLs seem to work as expected over all, except when it comes to blog archives.

    (1) The correct URLs should be shown as ‘www.my-url.com/page/5/’ for example, instead it’s shown as ‘www.my-url.com/5/’ (>>> Error 404).

    (2) The problem can not be fixed with the plugin option ‘do not use pagination for canonical URLs’ as this option has nothing to do with ‘show or hide canonical URLs’, it only shows an existing but a wrong canonical URL, which is ‘home’ in the current configuration. This may cause issues for crawlers, too, because it may be understood as ‘nothing to crawl here, crawl home instead’.

To avoid unacceptable error signals I temporary decided to use the second option.

    Is it a known bug?
