    Hi there!

I’m trying to set canonical tag to product pages.
    1. To move robots to other page (category page for example) when the product became end od sale.
    2. To avoid duplicate content if robots will scan pages with get parameters for example.

I set on this page canonical tag in admin section, but i can’t find the tag in the Chrome console.

I use Yoast Version 14.8 now.
    Site running WordPress 5.5.
    Caches was cleared

    Then i’ve

    – Installed and activate the Yoast Test Helper plugin
    – Clicked the “Reset indexables and migrations” button
    – And clicked the “Speed up your site” button in the SEO -> Tools.

    But, still no canonicals.

I’ve tried to find the issue with switching off plugins one by one and even when i had only Yoast and Woocommerce, no canonical tag was found on the page.
I’m already created ticket in the Woocommerce forum, because i just don’t know, what to do…

    Regards, Sergey.

  • Hi @ustar,

    Thank you for reaching out.

We understand that you want canonical URLs to be present throughout your site but they don’t appear even when configuring a custom one. We can imagine that this is frustrating.

We had a quick look at your site and there is no canonical to be found not only on product pages but also on your blog pages. This means that there is either a plugin/theme conflict, or there is custom code running on your site that disables this function from our plugin. Let’s find out what is happening.

First things first, make sure to update both Yoast SEO to the latest version 14.9 and WordPress to 5.5.1 and check if the issue persists. If so, please make sure to also be running the latest versions of all plugins on your site.

The fact that you’ve tested with Yoast SEO and WooCommerce only as active plugins and it didn’t work either, might lead us to your theme. Can you please temporarily switch to a default theme and check if the canonicals show? Make sure to clear your site cache if you run a caching plugin too.

You can switch themes without affecting site visitors by using the Health Check plugin. We have a step by step guide on how to conflict checks like these here: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/how-to-check-for-plugin-conflicts/.

    Hope you can find anything.

    Hi @netwoth,

Thank you for chiming in here, however, if you have any questions regarding Yoast SEO, even if they are related, we ask you to create your own topic to keep this neat and separate. That way email notifications keep personal and not everyone in this thread get notified for someone else.

To quickly give a heads-up. Canonicals are very important, you can read more about it here and here. If you have questions, please open up a new topic here on the forums. Thank you.
