    After running a web audit, I came across a bug that generates a HTTP 404 broken link error.

    In the category pages, they can span more than one. Yoast SEO is placing a canonical next link incorrectly in one of my category pages.

    I have 6 category pages for this particular category. Looking at the source, the sixth page has a rel=next link to page 7 which doesn’t exist.

    <link rel="prev" href="https://site.com/category/whatever/page/5"/>
    <link rel="next" href="https://site.com/category/whatever/page/7"/>

    This bug doesn’t happen on my home page or any of the other category pages where a pagination exists and the auditing tool doesn’t report any problems either.

    Somewhere in Yoast plugin, there is a round off error, or something strange going on to cause this – probably not an easy bug to nail down.
