    Hello,

On the new verison 4.2.0, the canonical generation works wrong i think. On every second and later paginated pages the canonical tag points to the first page (page 1). But that doesnt make sense. For example if I have a blog with for example 100 posts, the first page shows 10 post, how google supposed to crawl the others thats on the second and later pages? That wasnt an issue on the previous versions.

You can see the exact issue more described at ahrefs:

I aim to have TSF v4.2.1 out before the start of next week. Cheers!

P.S. During our two-week testing phase, we measured no decline of indexed pages. So, this change is (in anecdotal practice) found only slowly by search engines and should not affect your site if addressed soon. I doubt this error caused trouble as depicted in the image linked above unless you keep using v4.2.0 for a long time — sitemaps supplement crawling of archives (although they shouldn’t be relied upon), mitigating the issue almost entirely. v4.2.1 will address the issue permanently.
