• Hi All,

I am having issue with Canonical URLs I have enabled it from Canonicalizer in Settings.

I have checked the following options:-

    Generate <link rel=”canonical” /> meta tags
    Send rel=”canonical” HTTP headers

now the issue is as we all know canonical should add rel=”canonical” to sub pages, like for example we have site.com/cat/2 so it should add canonical url site.com/cat/ to it.

The issue over here is that it add the actual URL to rel=”canoncial” for each and every page… like in this case for site.com/cat/2 it shows the same URL in canonical..whereas its supposed to show the site.com/cat/

    Can anybody please help solving?

    -Regards.

  • @f.junaid right here with you my friend, this is a major issue that needs to be resolved. One idea to make it easier for the plugin developer, could you allow for a “custom field” from the page/post editor to override this? I found a very close solution here but it adds a second canonical URL instead of replacing the SEO Ultimate one. Any ideas on how one could make this work with the plugin? Sadly if this isn’t resolved soon I will be forced to go to another plugin and that not only would be a lot of unneeded work but I also love SEO Ultimate. ?? Thank you in advance for you assistance.

    Anyone?

I will pass along to our developer to make adjustments. But about the /2/, /3/, /4/ we already have a feature that redirects non existing pagination to the archive. Click the checkbox here – https://screencast.com/t/d2gCyjTB

However, in the spirit of true granularity I agree that having a page level override for canonical options is a great idea so, passing along to dev.

    Best,

    Jeffrey
